Zesty Cranberry Sauce
Add a little spice and orange to whole berries for a tangy twist on the traditional turkey dinner side dish.
Ingredients:
1 bag (12 oz) cranberries, cleaned |
3/4 cup sugar |
1/4 cup orange juice (high pulp is best) |
1 packet True Orange |
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/8 teaspoon allspice |
Preparation:
Note: Cranberry color will range from deep red to very light reddish-pink.
- Rinse the cranberries then pick through to remove any "squishy" berries
- Stir all the ingredients together in a 2 quart sauce pan
- Bring to a boil.
- Continue to boil until the berries pop open (about 5 minutes), stirring once or twice during cooking.
- Pour into a 1 quart serving dish.
- Cool thoroughly then chill overnight. The sauce will naturally gel as it cools.
